10. Corporate Finance
Yaniv Grinstein, Johnson Graduate School of Management, and Ph.D. student Vidhi Chhaochharia disclosed findings that are helping regulators to assess both the desirability of corporate governance rules and the effect of the rules on shareholder wealth. The researchers revealed investor reaction to the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley legislation and exchange regulations governing financial disclosure and controls in publicly traded companies. Their paper, “Corporate Governance and Firm Value—the Impact of the 2002 Governance Rules,” received the Best Paper in Corporate Finance Award from the Southwestern Finance Association (SFA). The SFA promotes finance research among academic scholars and practitioners and cosponsors the Journal of Financial Research.
